March 25 - 28, 2008: Watercolor workshop with Anita Diebel. Five-day workshop, 9:30 am - 4:00 pm. Seating is limited to 15 students. Fees: $250 for BMFA members; $280 for non-members. Aug 6 - Sept 17: Sketching & Drawing classes at the museum (660 E. Ringgold St), every Monday for 6 weeks, 9:30 pm - 1:00 pm, with instructor Luis Foncerrada. Maximum of 15 persons. $30 fee for materials. Call 542-0941 or e-mail us to info@brownsvillemfa.org to register.

Sept 15 - 23: Register now for a 2-weekend Pottery & Raku Workshop. Sept 15-16: Make a tea bowl, masks, plaques, wall pieces, vessels, and possible use of the potters wheel. Aug 19: Sunday; 9 am – 4 pm: “Introduction to Digital Photography and Painting with Photoshop” with photographer Eugene Allen. Receive practical pointers on how to select a digital camera and what equipment you should consider. Learn 25 tips to better understand digital camera functions and limitations. Get cost savings ideas on how to take good pictures and use your images to match your interests and pocketbook. You will also be afforded a demonstration of Photoshop basics looking at an array of creative enhancement features you might try in creating your own dramatic prints and images. Students are encouraged to bring their digital cameras to practice techniques taught during the class. Fees: $85 members; $95 non-members. Limited seating. Credit cards accepted. View poster here! Mar 6 - April 10: Adult Classes in "Portrait painting from live models" - All media at the BMFA Education Annex (230 Neale Dr.) every Tuesday for 6 weeks, 9 am - 12 noon, with Artist Pat Brencic. This class will cover the elements of portrait painting, utilizing live models in a variety of poses. Figure drawing exercises are included. Bring pencil, paper, and an eraser for the first meeting. Classes are FREE to museum members. Non-members get the first 3 classes free and each class is $10 afterward. Call 542-0941 or e-mail us to register at info@brownsvillemfa.org. Mar 7 - April 11: Adult Classes in "Painting in Watercolor" at the BMFA Education Annex (230 Neale Dr.), every Wednesday for 6 weeks, 9:30 am - 11:30 am, with Artist Marilyn Brown. This class will cover basic techniques in watercolor media and how to mix colors for maximum effect. Supplies will be discussed at the first session; however students are encouraged to bring a palette, tube watercolors, brushes, paper towels, pencil, and pink Pearl eraser. Mar 9 - April 13: Adult Classes in "Beginning Pastels" at the BMFA Education Annex (230 Neale Dr.), every Friday for 6 weeks, 9:30 am - 12 noon, with Artists Ruth Freeman & Cathy Lynch. This class will cover basic techniques in pastels. Supplies will be discussed at the first session. Classes are FREE to museum members.
